Industrial chemistry is the manufacturing art concerned with the transformation of matter into useful materials in useful amounts. Usually this transformation of available materials into more desirable ones involves some kind of process following a recipe. In turn the process may involve grinding, mixing together various ingredients, dissolving, heating, allowing ingredients to interact (chemically or biochemically react forming new compositions of matter), cooling, evaporating or distilling, growing crystals, filtering, and other physical-chemical-biological operations.

Industrial chemistry has vast field of operation. It includes like, food and beverage technology, polymer chemistry, enzyme technology, pharmaceutical chemistry, synthetic high polymers, electrochemistry, petro- chemistry, nano- chemistry, food and feed chemistry, inorganic chemistry and many more.

These fields are important in their own ways. All these areas fall under industrial chemistry.
The food and beverage technology deals with food science to the selection, preservation, processing, packaging, distribution, and use of safe food and beverages.

Polymer chemistry is a chemical compound or a mixture of compounds that are for due to the polymerization structural units. Polymer chemistry covers any of the assorted chemical compounds fabricated from smaller, identical molecules (monomers) coupled along. Example: rubber, naturally occurring cellulose, leather, and nylon (artificial polymer).

Enzyme technology has many industrial applications of enzymes in the field of biotechnology. Enzymes are being used in various new applications in the food, feed, agriculture, paper, leather, and textiles industries, resulting in cost reductions.

Pharmaceutical chemistry is the most important area of chemistry that deals with drug design, production, synthesis, formulation and testing. Electrochemistry is the study of the chemical and its reactions between an electron conductor and an ion conductor under an electric field.

Petro- chemistry is the branch of chemistry defines refining and processing of chemistry concerned with crude oil and fossil fuel. Examples: ammonia, acetylene, benzene, and polystyrene. Petro-chemistry covers the areas of good style of materials like plastics, explosives, fertilizers, and artificial fibers. It is one of the major field of industrial chemistry and holds major account in the industrial chemistry field.
